How To Change Startup Items On My Mac
As I mentioned, I love music and tend to get distracted when Spotify pops up. So, instead of preventing Spotify from opening on startup, I can choose it to start and minimize on my Dock. This way, the app remains always approachable, without distracting.
Step #1. Open the Spotify app on your Mac.
Mac Remove App From Startup
Step #2.Log in to the app (skip the step if already logged in).
Adding startup programs in Mac OS X is pretty easy and straightforward. To start off, click on the Apple icon. Once the System Preferences window has been opened, find and double-click on the option ' Users and Groups.' The above action will open the ' Users and Groups ' window. The Mac opens data files (pics, sounds, docs) in applications automatically, but you can change which apps they use in a few simple steps. Hold Command + Tab and you will see a bar appear on your screen with all open apps. Continue to hold Command and then press Tab to go through each application. You can hold Command and press Shift + Tab to go in the opposite direction. And you can hold Command and use your left and right arrow keys too. Just stop all apps from launching automatically and add just Delay Start in the list. Now open Delay Start and add the apps you want to launch automatically. Set the launch timing from the Time Setting section and close the app. Next time when you log-in, the Delay Start app will run automatically. Here’s how to change startup programs Mac doesn’t need with CleanMyMac X: Open CleanMyMac X on your Mac. On the left side of the window, select “Optimization”. Note: you can choose to clean up all login items and launch agents, or choose the individual processes you want to control.
Step #3. Select Spotify from the top menu (next to Apple logo on Mac) and click on Preferences.
Step #4. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and select Show Advanced Settings.
Step #5. Now, scroll up to Startup and Window Behavior setting.
Step #6. From the drop down menu in front of Open Spotify automatically after you log into the computer, select
- No to stop Spotify from opening on mac startup
- Minimize to keep Spotify minimized during startup
In case, this method does not work for you, there’s another method you can try.

Step #3. Here, switch to Login Items tab from the top bar.

You can also check the hide option; this will hide the application when you turn on your computer.
Check Sound PreferencesThe first place to check if you are having audio problems is macOS Sound preferences. Click on the “Output” tab and take a look at where your audio is being routed. No Audio on Your Mac? Audio route app mac. Go to System Preferences Sound.

In the world of music streaming, Spotify stands tall amongst its competitors. However, it is some small user-interface related issues that holds the app back. While no setting is difficult, finding and reaching that particular setting is a laborius process. For instance, you can only upgrade or delete your spotify account permanently via web.
While I wish Spotify takes heed of such issue and simplify these task.
